La Val Sousón

LA VAL SOUSÓN 2023 is a single-varietal wine made from Sousón, a red grape variety historically cultivated in the Condado de Tea region and known as "retinto" due to its coloring capacity. From vineyards in Crecente (inland Rías Baixas), with southern exposure and granitic soil, this wine is produced through pre-fermentative maceration at 10°C for two days, followed by spontaneous fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts in 2,000-liter stainless steel tanks with partial inclusion of stems. After daily manual punching down and devatting, the wine is transferred to 300-liter French barrels for malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging for 6 months.

This Atlantic red wine stands out for its tremendous polyphenolic richness, high acidity (6 g/l) and elevated aromatic power. The 2023 vintage, which began on September 22nd, was characterized by being a warm year that helped achieve perfect phenolic ripening, resulting in a wine with character, depth and an optimal balance between structure and freshness, with a moderate alcohol content of 12%.
