Winemaking
For the elaboration of this wine we first refer to its origin, the old vineyards of San Pelayo. It was in 1960 when this vineyard was planted, which, being exposed to the north, provides the freshness and acidity necessary for long ageing and an intense life. The extension of this wine, no more than 1.49 hectares, was planted by Guillermo himself in San Vicente de la Sonsierra; this wine is the culmination of the fact that the earth gives us back what we give it. As the label says, CVC is a combination of several harvests. For the elaboration of this wine, Marcos Eguren has selected the 2007, 2010 and 2012 vintages. The wine was aged for an average of 98 months, and the final blending was carried out in June 2019; and in September 2019, the final bottling.
Tasting note
CVC88 is a special wine; as much as the tribute that his sons, Miguel and Marcos Eguren have wanted to pay to the figure of Guillermo Eguren who, like this wine, is unique and unrepeatable. The result is a 100% tempranillo wine, elegant, with great character, complex and a unique identity destined to last over time. In addition to the wine, which is an oenological jewel, CVC88 stands out for its careful aesthetics. As part of the tribute we are paying to Guillermo Eguren, the Japanese artist Yukimasa Ida was asked to create the marvellous portrait on the label. The artist's impressive strokes on this 2.27m x 1.62m canvas have perfectly captured the proud gaze of a man looking at his vineyards. CVC88 comes to the market in this exclusive limited edition of 2057 unrepeatable bottles. An honest wine that, as the Eguren family says: "And the fact is that things, if they are well made, are forever".
