The grapes are selected and harvested by hand. Once in the winery, the grapes are unloaded into small capacity stainless steel tanks where a cold pre-fermentation maceration takes place for 48 hours at 10ºC, to enhance the extraction of fruit aromas. Alcoholic fermentation is then carried out with temperature control between 28-30ºC, after which hot maceration is extended for a few days at the end of fermentation and tastings determine the moment of devatting. This year the wine was kept in contact with the skins for 18 days. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks and is then transferred to French oak barrels where it remains for 11 months until clarification and bottling.
High cherry red color of great intensity with violet notes that denote his youth. The nose presents high aromatic concentration highlighting fresh red fruit, hints of black fruit (raspberry, currant, plum, ...) and licorice, all wrapped by a noble wood where prevail mainly balsamic notes, spicy and cocoa. On the palate it is a structured, full-bodied wine that presents a broad entry, with volume, fine tannin and long persistence in the aftertaste. It must have been like drinking a Viña Real in the 1920s, before it began its very long aging in oak. It is a complex wine, long in the mouth, fleshy and with great potential for aging in bottle. A wine that expresses our terroir of Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa.
