Following the philosophy of crafting wines that truly represent their terroir, Forlong 80/20 is born—a 100% Palomino wine from the Balbaína Alta vineyard. Carefully tended in the vineyard and then naturally vinified in the winery under rigorous process control.
This Palomino undergoes a unique fermentation process. Unlike typical white winemaking, which involves direct pressing, it is fermented with its skins, similar to red wine production. This "Orange Wine" has a distinctive characteristic: the grape skins used come from the Pedro Ximénez variety, aiming to extract a high concentration of aromas and the typicity of this grape. Additionally, this vintage is even more special, as the fermentation takes place in clay amphorae instead of stainless steel tanks.
After approximately 25 days from the start of pre-fermentative maceration and once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine remains in contact with the skins for 40 days. After this period, the skins are removed, and the wine is left to "rest" in the amphora for 3 months on fine lees to soften the tannins developed during skin fermentation. A natural cold-settling process follows, and the wine is bottled without the addition of sulfites at any stage, making it a completely natural cuvée.
This natural wine is bottled without undergoing any filtration or clarification treatments, so it may contain natural sediments.
With an amber-orange hue characteristic of Orange Wines, it displays a slight turbidity. When swirling the glass, a high density is observed, with slow-moving tears descending along the glass.
Expressive and deep, it evokes floral notes accompanied by soft balsamic and honeyed nuances, giving it both freshness and richness. When swirled, a broad aromatic palette unfolds—floral notes intensify, revealing roses, geraniums, a hint of baked apple, and a sweet pastry aroma that lingers. The aromas evolve and shift the longer the wine remains in the glass.
The entry is smooth and velvety, leading to a mid-palate where salinity emerges, and tannins appear, expanding into a powerful burst. These tannins persist until the dryness from the wine’s minerality takes over, creating a lively and vibrant sensation that invites another sip.
