Forlong

The estate on which the winery is located is known as “el olivar de forlón”, in the Vereda de Carrascal or Forlon. It belonged to the British merchant “Pedro Furlong”, who had it planted with
olive grove and vineyard.

In 2007, only two olive trees remained. Currently the estate has recovered both its old plantation as well as the final “g” of its name, which was lost over the years.
Sherry viticulture in Jerez (Cádiz), with a thousand-year tradition, had a remarkable heritage of vines which, after the phylloxera and its non-use for the reconstitution, was on the verge of extinction,
after almost a century of abandonment.
There are many of us who are recovering part of this historical heritage, of the old Cádiz, because they are a sign of identity, they are different, peculiar and linked to our “terroir”.
For this reason, in the elaboration of our wines we use the autochthonous varieties (local and minority), such as “Palomino”, “Pedro Ximénez”, “Moscatel”, “Perruno” and “Tintilla de Rota”.

Being part of the philosophy of ‘Forlong’, as well as the respect for the environment, biodiversity and the recovery of centenary techniques and containers, such as these earthenware jars.
